What is going on this year? A cancellation after cancellation

concerts

A little more than a month ago, I wrote a post about the concerts which I would like to see and concerts to which I would most definitely go to this summer (read here)… but in the meantime the things are completely reversed.

I really thought I won’t go to Josh Groban’s concert, but in the end I went (read more about that here) and I’m glad I did go, since every other concert is cancelled this year.

It all began with a cancellation of Eric Clapton’s concert in Vienna, Austria. I already had a ticket, but on the day of the concert he cancelled it, due to severe back pain. They said the new date will be announced soon but… doesn’t look good at the moment. Too bad. I wanted to see him.

In mid-June Maksim Mrvica should have a concert with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra in Ljubljana, Slovenia, but concert is postponed to autumn. I’ve already seen him twice, but never with the Orchestra, so I’d really like to see that concert.

Jessie J’s concert in Ljubljana was also cancelled. The official statement was: “Cancellation of the concert is a result of a subsequent planned promotional and media obligations performers”, but I’m not buying it. For some reason, I had a bad feeling about it. The concert would be in our biggest concert hall and I seriously doubt that she would be able to sell enough tickets. Well, apparently she didn’t.

Just a few hours ago they announced that the concert by José Carreras and the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra is canceled due to technical irregularities, which will not be lifted until the date of the concert. His concert should be in May already, but then it was postponed due to bad weather to July…

I don’t know what to think anymore. Don’t know whether to laugh or to cry. OK, I won’t cry. But I’m certainly not too happy about it. Well, I have 2 more concerts in front of me, which I can look forward to. At least I hope. I’m talking about Robbie Williams’ (with Olly Murs as his opening act) concert in Zagreb, Croatia and…

A few days ago Hugh Laurie announced a concert in Ljubljana. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised when I read that “Dr. House” is coming to Slovenia. I didn’t even know why. Later I read that he’s also a singer, so I went to listen to his music on YouTube. When I heard his songs, I immediately decided that I need to hear him live.
